Sports day
Last Tuesday we had a fantastic day with our Sports Day taking place all day. There were loads of fun things to do, such as rugby kicks, long jump, high jump, water relays, cross the river, penalty kicks, basketball, unihoc and many more. The weather was great and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Congrats to all the winners on the day, and a big well done to everyone who gave it their best on the day.

Active School Week - What we've been up to
Well Active School Week kicked off on Wednesday, and what a week it has been so far. We start each day off by walking to school, and this has been a great success, with lots of people making the effort to walk, as you can see from our photos.

Once we arrive in school we have 10 minutes of skipping out in the yard. Big ropes and small ropes get used and we are really starting to get the hang of it!

Just before the bell goes for small break, music comes on the intercom and we have to .......Drop Everything and Dance!!! It is great fun getting to dance in the classroom.
The cycleathon has really gotten our pulses racing, after 5 minutes on the bike we are wrecked!
Each class are walking for 5 minutes each day, and we are plotting our progress on a chart on the Active Flag noticeboard.
At each break time there are competitions running: Penalty shootout, Hoops challenge, Skipping challenge and Keepy-uppy challenge.

For 10 minutes before big break the whole school gathers in the yard for a whole school challenge. On Wednesday we did a Mexican Wave, and on Thursday we did the Haka Gaelach. Check them out here:

Thursday saw one of the highlights of Active School Week, the teachers vs students basketball match. It was a warm day and with no substitutes to bring on, the teachers looked like they might struggle. The students also had the whole school behind them cheering them on. However with Mr Fahy controlling things, the teachers ran out winners in the end. Congratulations and well done to both teams on a super effort.
We then had the final of the various competitions, and although it was tight a winner emerged at the end of each one! Well done to Cillian and Sandris in the penalty shootout, Noel in the Hoops, Alex B in the Keepy-uppys and Zhang Xu in the Skipping challenge. Enjoy your prize guys!
Overall we had a fantastic week with everyone taking part in loads of fun activities and really enjoying themselves. A big thanks to everyone who helped out, including all the teachers, parents, SNAs, the Active Flag committee, and particularly all the children. Make sure to stay active now everyone!!
